Ana is a lawyer (University of Buenos Aires) specializing in environmental law and policy. She has fifteen years of experience working on environmental matters in civil society organizations. Ana has been in charge of the Biodiversity Area in Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN) since 2010, and since 2013 she is also Deputy Director.
She manages projects on land and sea biodiversity conservation and sustainable use; wetlands restoration; creation of new and effective implementation of existing biodiversity legislation and policies, protected and conserved areas; development and recognition of biocultural protocols and biocultural corridors; and environmental territorial planning. It does so, by advocating for open, transparent, equitable and participatory processes, with an ecosystem and human rights-based approach.
She has very good knowledge of the UN system. Since 2010 she has followed CBD and Ramsar negotiations, and since 2017 UNCCD ́s. She attends and actively engages at COPs and intersessional meetings, as well as related national processes. She has extensive experience contributing to daily strategy meetings and activities, editing advocacy CSO ́s bulletins and documents, preparing text proposals for negotiations, and addressing Parties in formal events, formal notes and requests, among others.
She has a strong understanding of the differentiated impact that CSOs networking has, and experience in coordinating and promoting consensus in very diverse groups of people and institutions. She is used to and enjoys working in multicultural contexts. She has been elected as IUCN Councilor (2021-2025), as a formal representative of CSOs before the National Commission on Biodiversity in charge of developing and implementing the National Biodiversity Strategy (2022-2024), and as Coordinator of IUCN ́s Argentine National Committee (2015-2021). She is an active member of the CSO and Women constituencies in the CBD and UNCCD.
