Summary report of CSO participation in the CRIC 17 of UNCCD

The 17th session of the Committee for the Review the Implementation of the UNCCD Convention (CRIC 17) was held from 28 to 30 January 2019 in Georgetown, Guyana. It was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Center (ACCC). Around 200 delegates from all over the world participated. More than 30 CSOs participated in CRIC 17 and training. Members of the UNCCD CSO Panel coordinated CSOs activities.

Through statements and interventons on the the diferrent agenda items the CSOs called upon the Parties to include the recommendations of the CSOs in the CRIC 17 Report and to incorporate the key elements in the decisions to be taken at COP 14.

During the Interactive Session on Gender, Ms. Nathalie Van Haren of the OSC Both Ends made a presentation.

At the end of the session, CRIC17 constituted a contact group to elaborate the recommendations that will be considered by its governing body, the Conference of the Parties (COP), which will meet in October 2019 in New Delhi INDIA. The CSOs were authorized to participate, as observers, in a maximum number of three representatives.

Based on the excellent team work done by all CSOs which participated in CRIC 17 which in cooperation with country parties allowed all our considerations to be taken within the final document of Conclusions and Recommendations of CRIC 17.
